The earth wire connects the metal frame of the electrical appliances to the ground. The convention is to have green colour for earth wires. The purpose of earthing is that in case of an insulation failure in some appliance, this wire connected to the metal body will provide a path for the current to flow on the ground. In absence of earth wire, this fault current would have flown through the body of the operator, causing electrical shock.
The Earth wire is there to earth electrical devices that are not double insulated. If there was to be a malfunction in the appliance then you can get a really bad shock if an earth wire is not present. If there is any free electricity roming around then the earth wire will send it down to earth and to the main power station closest to the area instead of through your body. s aged 15
The earth wire of a washing machine should be connected to the metal chassis of the machine to prevent electric shock and ensure safety.
The neutral wire carries current back to the source in a circuit, while the ground or earth wire is used as a safety measure to protect against electric shock. The neutral wire is a current-carrying conductor under normal operation, whereas the ground wire carries no current except during fault conditions.
The code of practice typically requires that the wire armouring of a cable should not be solely relied upon as the primary earth continuity conductor. It is recommended to have a separate dedicated earth continuity conductor within the cable to ensure proper grounding and safety. The wire armouring can be used as an additional layer of protection or as a supplementary earth path, but not as the primary conductor.
In the USA we call it the ground. If there is a cross in the wires from hot to common the ground or earth wire will give the electricity an easier path to the ground instead of going through a live person. The earth is attached in the main box to a copper rod hammered into the ground. This makes it easier for electricity to get to the ground.
That is what the Earth wire does. Normally it does not carry current but it has this important safety function.
A neutral wire provides a return path for the hot lead while an earth or "ground" wire is provided as a safety function only that is not normally intended to carry current except for the purpose of operator protection.
A 6 mm earth wire can be used to replace a 2.5 mm earth wire, but if there is an existing 6 mm earth wire it must be 6 mm all the way to the earth, and not replaced by a smaller wire between it and the earth connection.

In the visible spectrum or the infrared? Either way, if your earth wire is glowing you have a problem. Your earth wire is not intended as a current carrying wire. If the wire is loaded to the point that it glows then your circuit/breaker is not wired correctly and the earth wire is being used as an unintended path and is a hazard. Earth wires are not sized properly to carry current.
The three pins are live, neutral and earth. The live and neutral carry the current, and the earth should carry no current. Its function is to connect together the external parts of all pieces of equipment so that it's impossible to get a shock by touching two items at once. Another function is to connect the external parts to an earth rod and to the gas and water pipes in the property. Another function is that if an internal fault allows a live wire to touch the case, enough current will flow to blow the fuse or trip the circuit breaker. So in different ways the earth pin/wire provides an important safety feature. In Europe the earth wire is coloured green and yellow.
They are for stripping the insulation off electrical wire.
It has the same function as braces, but is only a wire. Like a retainer.
