It means a source of energy in which the fuel or other prime mover can only be used once and cannot be renewed naturally, and of which there is a finite supply. Thus coal is non-renewable, as it is turned into useless ash on burning it. You could argue that coal could be remade on earth, and that may be true if you can wait a few hundred million years, and if the earth's climate reverted to a very warm wet one so that vegetation flourished. On the other hand wind and solar energy is renewable, because we have the sun to power them as sources, and the sun will continue to do this for billions of years.

Is coal a renuable or nonrenuable?

Coal is a nonrenewable energy source because it is formed over millions of years from plant material that has been subjected to heat and pressure. Once coal is mined and burned to produce energy, it cannot be replaced within a human lifespan.

What is a source of energy that needs another source of energy to produce it?

Nuclear energy requires an external source of energy to initiate the nuclear fission or fusion reactions that produce energy. This initial energy input is typically in the form of electricity or another type of fuel to start the chain reaction.

What is the source of earths energy and what is called?

The primary source of Earth's energy is the sun. This energy is called solar energy, which is harnessed through various processes like photosynthesis, wind energy, and solar panels.

Is this true or false geothermal energy is an unlimited source of cheap energy?

Geothermal energy is considered a renewable energy source, but it is not unlimited. It relies on heat generated within the Earth, which is finite. While it can provide a consistent and relatively cheap source of energy in suitable locations, it is not universally available and may not be considered cheap in all cases.

Why is geothermal energy a good source of alternative energy?

Geothermal energy is a good source of alternative energy because it is reliable, abundant, and renewable. It produces low emissions compared to fossil fuels and has a minimal environmental impact. Geothermal power plants can provide a steady source of electricity regardless of weather conditions, making it a stable energy source.
