One type of body of water completely surrounded by land is a lake. The opposite of that would be an island.
Other types of bodies of water surrounded by land include ponds, reservoirs, rivers and streams that run to a pond or reservoir, and inland seas. There are many bodies of water that are also completely surrounded by water until the tides come up; they may be tidal pools, lagoons, or salt marshes.
