The Earth's tilted axis of rotation combined with the Earth's movement around the Sun causes the seasons.

The Southern Hemisphere is "tilted" towards the Sun, then the Northern hemisphere, in a yearly cycle.

In January it's summer in the southern hemisphere and winter in the northern hemisphere.

Then, about six months later, it's summer in the northern hemisphere.

The effect of being tilted towards the Sun is to extend the hours of daylight and to increase the height of the Sun above the horizon.

Both those effects cause an increase in solar energy received.

So, you can see that the tilt of the Earth's axis is the basic cause of the seasonal variations in energy received at any one place.

What is the main reason some places on the earth are warmer then other?

The main reason some places on Earth are warmer than others is due to variations in the amount of sunlight they receive. Factors such as latitude, altitude, proximity to bodies of water, and ocean currents also play a role in determining the temperature of a particular location.

What is one reason Earth's surface is heated unevenly?

Earth's surface is heated unevenly due to variations in solar radiation absorption caused by factors such as the angle of sunlight, albedo (reflectivity) of different surfaces, and distribution of land and water. These factors lead to differences in heating rates and result in uneven distribution of temperature across the surface of the Earth.

What is a contributing factor to the reason for the seasons?

the distance of earth from the sun. It is the revolution of the moon around the earth

What is the reason for seasonal changes?

Seasonal changes occur due to the tilt of the Earth's axis as it orbits the sun. This tilt causes different parts of the Earth to receive varying amounts of sunlight throughout the year, leading to changes in temperature and weather patterns.

Does the distance from the sun affect the earths seasons?

Yes, the distance from the sun does affect Earth's seasons. However, the primary reason for Earth's seasons is the tilt of its axis relative to its orbit around the sun. This tilt causes different parts of the Earth to receive more or less direct sunlight at different times of the year, resulting in the changing seasons.

What is the reason of the time difference between Auckland and Johannesburg?

The reason they have a time difference, is because they are nowhere near each other! Auckland, New Zealand, is far to the east of Africa, and places that are located in different places as far as east and west, not north and south, have different timezones!

How does the Earths rotation create the need for time zones?

As the Earth rotates, different locations of the world are either in sunlight or darkness. For this reason, different time zones have been created.

How do the temperatures at different levels vary in lakes?

Because as the depth increases in a lake, the amount of sunlight reaching that point also decreases. Thus, as you go lower in a lake, the temperature decreases because there is less sunlight -- the same reason shadows are colder than sunlight.

What is uneployment?

Unemployment has different definitions in different places - which is one of the controversies of its usage) but, in general, it refers to the inability of someone who is actively searching for employment to find it for any reason.

What is the reason that seeds don't sprout?

Why is your house different temperatures?

The reason different areas of your house vary in temperature is that normally your heater/air conditioner is located at one side of the house. If you close your vents, hot/cold air can't circulate. also some rooms have better insulators are better than others

What country has no light?

Sweden is the country that has next to no sunlight in 1999 they only had 20 minutes of sunlight in December, this is the closest a country has to no sunlight. Also the reason why Sweden has such a high suicide rate !

Why do you see the colors of the rainbow when sunlight passes through a raindrop?

You don't. You see it when sunlight traveling away from you enters a raindrop, bounces offthe far inside of it, and comes back out traveling toward you.The reason is that different wavelengths of light bend through very slightly different angleswhen they enter or leave the raindrop. So, if light with a mixture of different wavelengths goes in, then the different wavelengthswill come out in slightly different directions, and you'll see them spread out.
