Carbon in the form of carbohydrates is everywhere on earth's surface...

Carbon is the fourth most common element in the earth's crust, mostly as carbonates

Carbon would be the second most common element by weight in your body behind oxygen, and the third most common element by molar quantity behind oxygen and hydrogen.

Your FOOD is basically carbohydrates.

Trees, plants, and wood are almost entirely carbohydrates.

Oil and its distillates are paraffins ( aka alkanes ) which are simple hydrocarbons.

Plastics all contain carbon.

Steel is a carbon alloy.

Your pencils use graphite based pencil lead, and thus are carbon.

And, of course, the most prized stones on wedding rings are virtually pure carbon.

For that matter, numerous industrial diamonds (nearly pure carbon) are used in concrete saws and etc.

Carbon is also concentrated in charcoals... While it may be favorites for holiday BBQs, it is also used with air or water filtration, and even treatment for poisoning.

Carbon dioxide is a fundamental component of respiration for both plants and animals. Plants breathe it in and animals breathe it out.
