Renewable means it can be replaced.

For example, if you chop down a pine tree and turn it into furniture and tooth picks etc the timber that made these thing can be renewed by growing another tree. That makes pine timber a renewable resource.

On the other hand if you were to look at the way we make plastic today, We make it from oil and oil is a resource that, once it is used will never be available again which makes it a non renewable resource.

A renewable source is a resource that we can grow or make more of; for example wood as we can grow new trees. Things like coal oil and gas are nonrenewable because although they are still forming, we are using them up millions of times faster than they can actually form. We will run out of them one day.

Nuclear is exactly the same. The earth only contains a certain amount of uranium. Once we dug it up that's it!

Coal will run out in about - 250 years

Oil will run out in about - 40 years

Gas will run out in about - 60 years.

Energy is a key resource for cooking, lighting, driving machinery and for heating our homes.
A renewable resource is a resource we do not need to worry about losing. It can either be reacreated or reused throughout time.
