See the Web Links and Related Questions for more information. This is a common buffer. The pH would be 9.25 as long as both ingredients were present AT THE SAME CONCENTRATION in the solution.To check that, you need to convert 2.5 g NH4Cl to moles, and find the concentration by dividing by the volume (0.125 liters).

Then see if this is equal to 2.4 moles per liter, which is the concentration of ammonia.

Awfully concentrated ammonia solution if you ask me...

Every NH3 molecule can accept one electron, so 0.25 moldm-3 NH3 behaves like 0.25 moldm-3 OH- ( Every mole of OH- can accept one mole of electrons).

pH + pOH = 14

pOH = - log (OH-)

= -log (0.25)

= 0.60

Therefore pH = 13.4

What is the density of a cube of wood with sides 5 cm and a mass of 100g?

All of the sides equal to 5cm Mass = 100g To find volume you do 5 X 5 X 5 = 125cm3 (Its cm3 because you X 5 by itself 3 times) Therefore 100g/ 125cm3 (You divide 100g (MASS) by 125cm3 (VOLUME)) Answer = 4/5 which in a whole number is 0.8g per cm3

If two similar prisms have volumes of 125 cm3 and 9 cm3 what is the side ratio of the two prisms?

If the sides of two shapes are in the ratio of A : B, then their volumes are in the ratio A3 : B3, thus: ratio of volumes = 125 : 9 ratio of sides = 3√125 : 3√9 ~= 5: 2.08 (~= 2.4 : 1) Have you got the volumes correct? I suspect the second should be 8cm3 not 9cm3, because then the volumes would be 125cm3 and 8cm3 and: ration of volumes = 125 : 8 ratio of sides = 3√125 : 3√8 = 5 : 2 (= 2.5 : 1)
