The Red Cross is geared towards helping people cope with experiencing a disaster and helping them get back to a state of normalcy. Disaster relief is one of the most known activities of the Red Cross and such relief includes human services and mental health assistance, sheltering and food programs and stockpiling blood for healthcare purposes following a disaster. The Red Cross also trains people in disaster response, basic first aid such as doing CPR and helping to assist victims who have likely just lost everything due to some form of crisis. The Red Cross is not a government agency but still is a vital and sometimes critical resource for many emergency management and disaster-related incidents.
