What is containing the water? The dent or curve, that is if I am correct in understand what you are asking is called meniscus. There are two types of a meniscus. Concave or convex. A convex meniscus is when molecules of the liquid have a stronger attraction than of the surface that it is contained in however this does not occur with water. But that makes me ask myself a question... Because water expands as it freezes, uh nah. That is completely irrelevant. This is rather my 16 year ADD mind loosing it's train of thought getting off topic. Hahaha. Back on track, an example of this is mecury. A concave meniscus can be seen when molecules of the liquid attract to the structure of the container's surface. This can be seen as water in a glass. Wow this is pretty cool. I want use this site more often. I think that it will help me with focusing on good questions especially just a 16 year.

Mass movements of water are called currents. This is equally true for surface water or deeper water.
Water flowing downhill across the surface of the Earth is called runoff.
