What is Andesitic lava?

A stratovolcano is a name given to a volcano that has grown by progressive stacking of eruptive products (e.g. lava flows and pyroclastic flows). The term composite volcano is often preferred as it does not suggest that this stacking occurs in neat layers (i.e. 'strata' is a geological term for a layer of rock). Andesite is a type of igneous rock which is characterized by an intermediate amount of silica. It has more silica than basalts (e.g. Hawaii) and less silica than dacites (e.g. Mt. St. Helens).which it means active

Which element has similar chemical properties to nitrogen?

elements in the same group as nitrogen will have similar CHEMICAL properties because they have the same number of electrons in the outer shell. (this is according to Bohrs model of the atom, if you want a real confusing answer about valence shells etc. go look at quantam mechanics) So elements in group 7 are phosphurus, arsenic, selenium, tellurium, polonium, these will react with the same chemicals to from similar compounds however they are all solids unlike nitrogen. Elements with similar PHYSICAL properties are elements that are present as gases at room temperature (like nitrogen is) oxygen, fluorine, chlorine, hydrogen and all of group 8 the noble or inert gasses (although inert isn't really a valid term as they can react in the correct conditions)

Is benzene an alkene?

The simple answer is no. Benzene has intermediate bonds (3 electrons) instead of the alternating double bonds proposed by Kekule. The forth electron in the P orbital becomes delocalised to form two rings of electrons, both above and below the molecule.

How do you get soft bitumen to set at room temperature?

Bitumen is not reactive in the sense that it sets. Furthermore, it's strongly temperature sensitive ie the apperance will depend on temperature. This is perhaps one of the main properties of bitumen, along with stickiness. If its fluid (or thick) n room temperature it will stay that way. There are slow processes, chemical and physical, that will affect properties but these are slow and long term. If you want it to set, lower the temperature or choose another quality of bitumen. There are bitumens that more or less brittle at room temperature.

Difference between NMR spectroscopy and MRI?

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectrometry (NMR) is the term used in the sciences, e.g. in probing chemical structures, however the term "nuclear" is toxic to some people and the medical profession dropped the term and use Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) or MR when NMR is used to study the structure of organs in the body. The same physical priciples apply

What is resonance in organic chemistry?

Resonance structures exist in organic and inorganic chemistry. Resonance structures refers to the ability to create (draw) a molecule in more than one way. However, one structure is usually favored over the other. Most of the time you will see these structures denoted with a (major) or (minor) next to it. This will indicate that the majority of the time that structure will be formed.
