the convection currents in the mantle under the earths curst is moving the broken plates in earths lithosphere causing the plates slide across the lithosphere.

Ireland used to be down by the Mediterranean area. The proof of that is the limestone is the most common around that area but not up further north. Also, if you put the continents together, they should fit together like a perfect puzzle. People suggest that there used to be one massive continent called Pangea which was all the continents nowadays fitted together, but now they've drifted apart.
