The theory of continental drift is used to explain the moving of the continents and the internal Earth processes. Plate tectonics is further evidence that the theory of continental drift is real.
the convection currents in the mantle under the earths curst is moving the broken plates in earths lithosphere causing the plates slide across the lithosphere.
this process is called tectonics.
(jon lay wrote this,)
Ireland used to be down by the Mediterranean area. The proof of that is the limestone is the most common around that area but not up further north. Also, if you put the continents together, they should fit together like a perfect puzzle. People suggest that there used to be one massive continent called Pangea which was all the continents nowadays fitted together, but now they've drifted apart.
It is called the theory of plate tectonics. The theory that the crust of the Earth is divided into about 30 major and minor plates which are slowly pushed and pulled across the surface of the globe, driven by convection currents within the mantle below.
Continental drift.

Plate tectonics.
plate tectonicts moved the continents awat from each other.
That theory would probably be Pangaea. The theory for the movement of continents is called the Continental Drift Theory.
The theory of plate tectonics is that all the continents were once together in a land mass called Pangea and that plate tectonics(which means the earth moved ex earthquakes) moved the continents to the way they are today

the Continental Drift Theory is the slow movement of the Earths continents. A.K.A the continents drift
the movement and formation of the plates or continents is caused by conduction under the crust.
