It's an outdated theory that assumed that solar systems (i.e. planets) were very rare and were caused by two stars passing so close to each other that they pulled matter out of each others substance. The debris supposedly condensed into planets.
If you read old sci-fi stories from the 1930's and 40's you'll see this taken as fact.

the theory of plate tectonics
One theory is the Big Bang - after that, matter, including Earth, formed inside a solar nebula which later became our Sun.
1.) Tidal Theory 2.) Nebular Theory 3.) Solar Disruption Theory 4.)Planetissimal Theory 5.) Dynamic Encounter theory 6.)Condensation Theory 7.) Big Bang Theory
plate tectonics is a theory because t explains the formation, movement, and subduction of earth' s plates.

the movement and formation of the plates or continents is caused by conduction under the crust.
No. The Big Bang theory is an explanation on the formation of the universe. Earth did not form until billions of years later.
Geothermal energy is the heat from the Earth's interior. This heat originates from the original formation of the earth, radioactive decay and friction due to the tidal forces acting on the magma.
