Yes. A dry hole or duster may contain hydrocarbon, but for numerous reasons (low production rates, low recoverable oil, heavy oil) it can not be commercially developed. The logs provide valuable information on the lithology of the prospective zones, porosity, fluid type (oil, water, gas), fluid contacts, and fluid saturations. I can't say a well is always logged, but I have never known a well to be drilled to planned depth and not logged. Frequently, logging a well helps to determine if there is potential for development.
