The Sahara
The largest desert in the world is Antarctica which is huge and much larger than the United States. The Sahara, second largest desert, is slightly smaller than the contiguous 48 states of the United States.
Some common landforms found in the desert include sand dunes, canyons, plateaus, mesas, and desert pavement. These landforms are shaped by processes such as wind erosion, water erosion, and tectonic activity, and they make the desert landscape unique and diverse.
The Sahara Desert covers most of North Africa. The Sahara Desert is the largest subtropical hot desert and third largest desert in the world, after Antarctica and the Arctic.
The elevation of a desert biome can vary greatly depending on its location. Deserts can be found at sea level, like the Sonoran Desert in the southwestern United States, or at high elevations, such as the Atacama Desert in Chile which has areas above 13,000 feet (4,000 meters).
Arizona typically has the least cloud cover compared to other states in the United States. Its desert climate results in clear skies and sunny days for most of the year.
