The deepest hole ever drilled, the Kola Superdeep Borehole in Russia, only reached about 7.5 miles (12 kilometers) deep, which is nowhere near the Earth's core at about 4,000 miles (6,400 kilometers) below the surface. Additionally, the extreme temperatures and pressures at the core would make drilling further impossible using current technology.
