When the saturation point of the soil is reached then no more water will be absorbed. Any more water will flow over land down hill and collect in low points or bodies of water such as rivers and lakes. In serious cases this will cause floods.

Convectional rainfall occurs when warm air rises, cools, and condenses to form rain clouds. Frontal rainfall occurs when two air masses with different temperatures and moisture content meet, causing the warmer air to rise and condense, resulting in rainfall.
