Sleet starts falling from the atmosphere as snow, melts into rain droplets, and then freezes into ice pellets that hit the surface of the earth. Sleet does not impact power outages but will impact driving conditions. Sleet will cause ice on the roads.

Death, destruction of habitats and the surrounding area and being snowed in(?) are among the worst i can think of. Also when the snow froze that would no doubt cause a huge amount of road traffic accidents. Other less serious effects would in some countries be the forced closures of schools, being unable to get to work etc
