∙ 11y agoThe 1989 San Francisco earthquake, also known as the Loma Prieta earthquake, resulted in 63 deaths, thousands of injuries, and widespread damage to infrastructure and buildings in the Bay Area. The collapse of a section of the Cypress Street Viaduct in Oakland and damage to the Bay Bridge were some of the most notable immediate impacts of the earthquake. Additionally, the World Series between the San Francisco Giants and the Oakland Athletics was delayed due to the earthquake.
