A doctor told me to mix hydrogen peroxide and glycerin and put a few drops in my ear for a few minutes a day to clear out wax build-up. I don't konw what else it could be for.
For what purpose?
It is the oxygen responsible for the killing of germs. When hydrogen peroxide is applied to a surface, it reacts quickly and then breaks down into water hydrogen. At the same time, free oxygen radicals are released; these create oxidation, a chemical process in which oxygen combines with another substance to break down or change the function of the molecules. Through oxidation, the bacteria decomposes, rendering it harmless.
You can drink food grade hydrogen peroxide. NOT the peroxide in the little brown bottle.Food grade hydrogen peroxide is usually sold on concentration of 35% - so you absolutely have to know how to dilute it.

Kerosene is the same as paraffin. Paraffin is a liquid that can burn and is widely used. When you mix paraffin with water, you get a whitish liquid, probably due to airbubbles due to the heavy motions required to actually mix them. Paraffin does NOT mix as such and since the paraffin is not as heavy as water, it will instantly begin to separate and form as a layer on top of the water. There is No danger involved when mixing. I do not even think this is a dangerous solution to drink. You will probably just end up at the loo rather quickly as it really does start something happening that way. Would not try this though. There might be a difference to medical paraffin used for this purpose versus parafine used for energy/heat.
Hydrogen peroxide may be used as an oxidising agent in some chemical ractions.
For what purpose?
Hydrogen peroxide is generally one of the most prominent ingredients in any tooth whitening product. To whiten teeth with hydrogen peroxide, you will need to dilute it first. One can find dilution instructions for this purpose on the hydrogen peroxide bottle.
To look good
Plz ask for liquid to clean ears. you will be given Hydrogen peroxide IP. Since, your question wasnt clear as to what the purpose was, I presume, I answered you right?
The purpose of the zinc is to reduce the hydrogen peroxide which is generated in the hydrolysis.
Yes it does. I quote from a medical site: "Hydrogen peroxide can kill bacteria on contact and has been widely used for that purpose. However, straight hydrogen peroxide is unstable and rapidly loses its effectiveness when exposed to air or light." Hope this helps. (:
The purpose is to avoid decomposition of H2O2.
There is an actual method which involves using hydrogen peroxide and baking soda to make a paste and brushing this onto your teeth.
2H2O2 --> 2H2O + O2Catalyzing this reaction. The breakdown of hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen gas.
If you mean 3% hydrogen peroxide solution, that's what it's for. Higher concentrations, or other peroxides, may not be safe and should not be used for this purpose without consulting a physician.
Hydrogen peroxide is a strong oxidizing agent. It can cause severe cell damage. However, in low concentrations, while it's devastating to bacteria it doesn't hurt human cells much, because human cells have an enzyme known as peroxidase which is able to safely decompose hydrogen peroxide into oxygen and water.
