The air pressure would decrease enormously, as nitrogen makes up more than three quarters of the air we breath. So without it, there would be substantially less air! Life cycles in themselves would fall apart, as even at the most basic level nitrogen is used. It is present in DNA, urine, gases, almost everything living has nitrogen in it. Seeing as the air would now mostly comprise of oxygen and carbon dioxide, lots of animals and living creatures would die because of the incredibly high concentrations of these gases. Plants require Nitrogen to carry out photo synthesis (so no O2) and ammonia required nitrogen to made in the harbor process(one of the most frequently used chemicals in industry). you also need nitrogen to create DNA and there's not really any life without DNA or RNA (found in bacteria). Nitrogen also stop the air being explodable... if O2 filled the earths atmosphere you only need one person with a lighter to set the world aflame :) there are hundreds of other reasons why we need nitrogen please add more.
Breathing pure (100%) oxygen can kill us, and we need nitrogen when we breathe in oxygen. Nitrogen combines with oxygen and that is what we breathe in.
Also, ammonia wouldn't have existed
The glowing splint would extinguish in nitrogen. Nitrogen gas is inert and does not support combustion.
about 70 percent of the atmosphere is nitrogen
Nitrogen makes up approximately 78% of Earth's atmosphere.
The illustration that represents the largest reservoir of nitrogen on earth should display the atmosphere. The atmosphere of earth contains around 78.09 % nitrogen.
If nitrogen gas were absent from Earth's atmosphere, it would disrupt the nitrogen cycle, affecting plant growth and nutrient cycling. This would lead to a decrease in food production, as nitrogen is an essential nutrient for plants. Additionally, the composition of the atmosphere would change, potentially impacting climate and ecosystem functioning.
If Earth lost its nitrogen, most living organisms wouldn't survive since nitrogen is a crucial component for proteins, DNA, and other essential molecules. Plants wouldn't be able to grow, disrupting the entire food chain. The atmosphere would also undergo changes, impacting weather patterns and climate stability.
Nitrogen is necessary for life on earth. Without nitrogen, which makes up some 78% of the earth's atmosphere, we would be breathing in nearly pure oxygen and that would be fatal.
The glowing splint would extinguish in nitrogen. Nitrogen gas is inert and does not support combustion.
it would die
Reacting Nitrogen Gas with Alkali or Alkaline earth Metals form trivalent N3- ions.
Reacting Nitrogen Gas with Alkali or Alkaline earth Metals form trivalent N3- ions.
ha ha well nothing would happen because there was no life on earth.
Combustion and decombustion would be extremely slow
It dies.
the earth would be destroyed
There is no insulating LAYER of Carbon Dioxide round the Earth. The Carbon Dioxide is mixed up with the Oxygen and Nitrogen in Earth's atmosphere and is not present in the atmosphere as a layer. If the absolute amount of Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere increases, the Earth would get warmer.
If nitrogen disappeared from the atmosphere, many organisms would die as they rely on nitrogen to build proteins and DNA. The loss of nitrogen would disrupt ecosystems, affecting plant growth and the animals that depend on them for food. Additionally, the composition of the atmosphere would change, potentially affecting climate and weather patterns.
