Soft soil is prone to settling, consolidation, and erosion, which can pose challenges for construction and infrastructure projects.
Wet and soft soil is called mud. It usually results from a combination of water and earth, creating a viscous mixture often found in wetlands, marshes, or after heavy rainfall.
The ground is wet and soft due to floods and rain. Floods and rain are good for the soil because it keeps the soil rich with nutrients, which is good for plants to grow in.
Building on solid rock is generally preferable because it provides a more stable foundation for structures compared to building on soft soil. Soft soil can lead to settlement issues and structural instability over time, whereas solid rock offers better support and can reduce the risk of damage from shifting ground.
