I've been doing a project on Cobalt. So far I've read that it was discovered in 1742, 1739 and 1735. Most of the reliable web pages have said 1735, so it would probably be best to go with that date. That's what I'm going to do.
No. Jk. Yeah, he did. Do you know where I found that out? Google. ;)

Cobalt is an element, and as such was not 'invented'. Cobalt has been found in artifacts from the Chinese and Egyptian cultures dating back to around 1000BCE (Before Common Era - like BC but without the religious context). It was named as an element by Georg Brandt in 1739.
Georg Brandt was born on June 26, 1694 and died on April 29, 1768. Georg Brandt would have been 73 years old at the time of death or 321 years old today.

CO2 is a molecule called carbon dioxide. Periodic table lists elements and any molecules or compounds like the one asked in the question.
In 1732, Georg Brandt, a Swedish chemist, discovered cobalt. He was attempting to prove that the ability of certain minerals to color glass blue was due to an unknown element, and not to bismuth, as was commonly believed at the time.
