Some fish actually do die, if they are unfortunate to swim near where the lightning strikes. However, the electricity from the bolt of lightning is dispersed through the water only over a short distance. When lightning strikes the ocean, there is not enough electric current to lethally charge the worlds water supply, so most fish are safe.
-----------
First of all, some fish do die. However the electricity dissipates (becomes weaker from the electricity spreading out) and there are a lot of fish in the oceans but there is so much water for them to be in. Have you heard the rumor that animals know when a storm is coming? A lot of them can tell by slight changes in the atmosphere such as pressure, temperature, and humidity.
----------
When water is struck, the power is transferred through millions of gallons of water to the ground and very limited amounts in comparison would affect fish. The fish may still feel a shock at a certain distance, especially due to their very sensitive lateral line, but it most likely would not cause any harm.
---------
The short answer is that the effects of a lightning strike are very local, and anything outside the immediate range will be unharmed.
--------
Since the lightning has to travel all the way to the ocean floor then the shock is not as strong as if the fish were in the air and the lightning struck them.
No, not all fish die when lightning strikes the sea. Fish are generally insulated from the electrical current due to the water's resistance, and many can swim to deeper waters or hide in crevices to avoid direct contact with the electric discharge. However, some fish close to the strike may be affected.
If your asking why does it strike at all, it's because of the negative charges the atrract the energy. If your asking why does it strike at all, it's because of the negative charges the atrract the energy.
i guess it all depends on were it is directly at and lighting can go until it hits the ground
On average, cloud-to-ground lightning strikes the Earth about 25 million times per year. The frequency can vary based on geographical location and weather conditions.
Lightning can strike houses during a thunderstorm, but thunder itself is simply the sound produced by the rapid expansion and contraction of air surrounding a lightning bolt. It is not the lightning strike itself, so thunder does not directly hit houses.
Before a lightning strike, a charge builds up along the water's surface. When lightning strikes, most of electrical charge occurs near the water's surface. Most fish swim below the surface and are unaffected.

They don't. Some, real close to the strike point may well die. But those farther away will be just fine.
It's all chance. It has to be raining. Lightning randomly strike a block inside a quadrant that's raining
Almost nothing is done to help prevent lightning strikes. This is because if lightning does hit, then all it will do is scorch the struck part of the ship of kill electronic navigation. Lightning doenst strike ships much to begin with, however.
When lightning strikes water, it can electrify the water and spread out in all directions. This can pose a danger to anyone swimming or standing in the water nearby. The electrical current can be deadly if it directly strikes a person.

First off, the question should be either "What math is used in Mechanical Engineering? or What is the highest level of math someone needs to take in order to become a Mechanical Engineer?" Most college programs require through Differential Equations to earn a BS degree in ME. This means you would need to take Calculus 1, 2, and 3, Linear Algebra, and Differential Equations once you get to college. It is assumed that most students going into engineering will have no less than Pre-Calculus before entering college while most will have taken Calculus. Now each college has different requirements for fulfilling the math requirements for an engineering program. I know from my experience, Georgia Tech teaches math differently than most colleges because they combine Calc 1-3 and Linear Algebra into just 3 courses instead of 4. My suggestion is look at the program requirements at the school you are interested in first. Second, evaluate whether you feel that you can learn the math. For those who struggle with math, if you really want to be an engineer, I suggest going to a smaller school where the class size will be smaller. This will have better student/teacher interaction so you can get more help.
It is possible that the tree may die if it has suffered significant damage from the lightning strike. Trees can exhibit signs of distress such as wilting leaves, bark damage, and dieback. It is important to monitor the tree's health and consider consulting with an arborist to assess the extent of the damage and determine the best course of action.
