Tornadoes happen most in the United States in a place called 'Tornado Alley'. They mostly happen there because of the air. Tornado Alley is in the middle of the United States. So cold air from higher up in the world comes down and meets hot, humid air from down lower by the Equator. That hot air comes up and that's how the two airs meet. Then they form tornadoes.
Tornadoes have occurred in all 50 states. However. Most tornadoes happen in or near the area known as tornado alley, which extends north from Texas to South Dakota and includes parts of some adjacent states.
The majority of UK tornadoes are not recorded. So most statistics on the number of recorded tornadoes in the UK are usually around 70. Most UK tornadoes happen in the countryside (so don't get noticed) and are very small (usually). It is common belief that more tornadoes happen in the UK than in the US (tornado ally included) - Although US tornadoes are way bigger and stronger than those in the UK and so more are likely to be noticed and therefore recorded. Tornadoes in the UK usually happen in the summer when the weather conditions are right.
In Canada tornadoes are most likely to occur in Saskatchewan,MANITOBA and Ontario. So it does, but these are just Canadian places. No need to worry because they don't happen often...if they do they last around a couple of minutes(or a little longer)and they usually happen around may-august
Tornadoes can happen at any time of the year, but they are most common in the spring and summer months when warm, moist air masses collide with cold, dry air masses. Tornadoes can occur in other seasons as well, depending on weather conditions.
