If Hurricanes pack winds of 150 mph how come they only travel at 15 mph?

Forward movement of the actual storm, which is where the eye is, is what is measured. The winds spin around the center having nothing to do with how fast the storm is moving - that is because of steering currents, like a Bermuda High or an approaching cold front. Oddly enough, if a category 3 hurricane is moving at 60 miles per hour like the 1938 Long Island Express, you combine forward movement with the sustained winds in the direction it is moving to give you, specifically at that part of the storm, category 5 winds. 120 mph sustained plus 60 mph forward movement equals...180 mph sustained winds in that region/area of the storm (it's opposite on the weak side of the storm, of course). Which explains why that hurricane was so destructive. Last I checked hurricanes don't carry luggage so why people continue to say "pack winds" I'll never understand. Skip Stone New Orleans, LA

Where did hurricane Doria hit?

Hurricane Gloria first made landfall on coastal North Carolina, especially Cape Hatteras. (she had sistained winds of 105 m.p.h.) She paralleled the coast, and made her second landfall in central long island with lesser 85 m.p.h. sustained winds. Her winds affected the areas inlcuding Islip and Fire Island. Her final landfall was made in Bridgeport Connecticut, with sustained winds of 80 m.p.h.

Which way does most wind blow in Pennsylvania USA?

In the north-east region of the US (Pennsylvania, New York, New Hampshire, etc.) the weather (which is pushed by the winds) usually moves from the south-west to the north-east.

What is the highest wind speed of an F5 tornado?

The upper limit for F5 winds were originally set at 318 mph. This is somewhat of a tricky thing, though, as tornado ratings are based on the severity of the damage, which is used to estimate wind speed. The problem is, damage caused by F5 winds is so complete, it is impossible to determine if winds were faster. When the Enhanced Fujita scale replaced the Fujita scale in 2007, the new EF5 category had no set upper limit for wind speed.
