nFloods are sometimes when to much rain comes down from the sky (clouds) and all the rain doesn't have a home…. So it just lays down on the ground and too much rain come down and it goes everywhere!!L nAnother type of flood is when there is to much water in the rivers.. So they go find a new home and to much rain wants to find a new home so then it all piles up, and the flooding starts.
It almost always starts with a huge amount of rain, but there are many things that help it along. If the ground is hard, then the water just sits on top, but if the ground is soft, the water seeps in. However there is only so much water that can be stored, and when the ground is full, it acts like a sponge and squeezes it all out. If you lived at the bottom of a hill, or a mountain Ext. it would be more likely to flood, because it is easy for the rain to run down. Another way a flood can start is when the rain flows into a river, and bursts the bank.
the boscastle flood of 2004 began between 5am ans 6am on the 16th of august
The Boscastle flood started in 2004 by torrential rain and the river Jordan burst its banks. It was also caused by snow melting, due from the winter. The rain helped the snow melt and the river to burst, therefore, caused a flood

In the Bible, it was the sin of humanity's wickedness and corruption that caused the great flood in the story of Noah's Ark. Ovid's version in Metamorphoses attributes the flood to the downfall of man and the need for a fresh start.
