If you are using it outdoors for weather measurement, then a location sheltered from the wind is best.

If you are using it indoors to monitor laboratory conditions, then a location which is free of drafts is best. That is, avoid placing it near air ducts.

The general rule for a barometer is to place it in a location with a low amount of air circulation, so that you can measure the static pressure. Also keep in mind that you want to be able to read the instrument.
