The Bootle Stone AKA "Walney Rock" is a huge boulder around eight feet in diameter which lies about 1/2 a mile offshore in EarnseBay. The entire area is littered with "scars" of glacial rock deposited there in the last ice age but being of much larger size than others the Bootle Stone has become separated from the scars over time and now stands alone and it's position is is of great interest to local boat owners.
