Short answer: a lot of what we use.

Non-renewable resources are those that don't deplete the resource - that don't decrease it's ability to be used by future generations. For example, solar energy - when you collect the sun's rays for energy, you don't deplete the sun in any way; solar energy can be harvested over and over and over again.

Non-renewables to me include all metals and oil/gas; things that need to be dug out of the earth and which won't replace themselves quick enough to provide an endless supply. So anything made of metal or plastic is made from a non-renewable resource. Oil is used to make plastic and a lot of things you wouldn't necessarily think of like a lot of your clothes & fabrics, sofas, carpets, nail-o-polish, cosmetics and more. It was created over a very long period of time from the heating and compression of dead plants and animals over the course of our planet's history. We are using oil at a rate that it won't replace itself before we use it all (a concept called Peak Oil).

Is oil a nonrenewable resources?

Yes effectively. However, if you have 300 million years you could plant a tree and wait for it to fall into a swamp and get compressed and then eventually you would get oil. Currently the human race uses up oil in one day that would take nature millions of years to make. IT'S GONNA RUN OUT!!
