Why is ethanol a better solvent than water for recrystalization?

the answer is yes.

Why does ethanol dissolve in water?

Most salts will dissolve more readily in water than ethanol, so in ethanol the solid can crystallize out at lower concentrations. Also ethanol has the added benefit of being more easily removed by evaporation.

Why is there alcohol in perfume?

Ethanol is much better as a solvent than water. It doesnt promote microbacterial/microbial growth. It has a low boiling point, when mixed in a the perfume. It helps the fragance of the perfume to spread or evaporate in the surroundings, thus it helps in maximizing the effect of the perfume.

Which colligative property is better one to determine molecular mass of an unknown solute in a soution?

Probable the boiling point elevation.

Is biofuel better then ethanol?

Ethanol is one of the biofuels, so it can't be better than itself.

Would ethanol be better than mercury for an outdoor thermometer in the arctic?

Ethanol would be better because it has a smaller range.

Why is water a better fluid for use in a hot pack than ethyl alcohol?

Water has a higher boiling point than ethanol, and so will evaporate more slowly at high temperatures than ethanol. Also, I think water has a higher heat capacity, which means it will stay hot longer.

Why is water a better conductor than ethanol?

water contains iron and ethanol doesnt. this is why Water has ions, ( not iron), in a higher concentration than ethanol.

Is hard water or soft water a greater solvent?

Soft water is better solvent

What is a better fuel propanol or ethanol?

probably ethanol - it is more readily available and vehicles are set up to take it

Does theVolume of the solvent and the volume of the solution remain the same if you add more solute to the solvent is this statement right or wrong?

This statement is incorrect. If you add a solute to a solvent the total volume is not equal to the volume of the solute plus the volume of the solvent. This seems counterintuitive but when adding two different compounds together these compounds may stack together better or worse than they would separately. This can be seen very readily when mixing pure ethanol and water. It also results in the fact that using normal distillation methods you cannot get ethanol more pure than 95%. Hope that helps

What is the molecular formula for ethanal?

Ethanol, or drinking alcohol, is a solvent and reagent with the chemical formula CH3CH2OH.Ethanal, better known as acetaldehyde, is an aldehyde with the formula CH3CHO.
