Exchange pools are biotic factors that hold chemicals for a short period of time. However, reservoir holds chemicals for a longer period of time.
its all to do with gravitational pull, basically rainwater holds carbon dioxide as it is fresh from the atmosphere then when it reaches earth there is more added to it because us humans and animals take in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide.
A warm air mass and a cold air mass holds the same amount water vapor but the air mass is smaller
Less carbon dioxide would dissolve in the oceans so there would be more in the atmosphere. Warm water holds less carbon dioxide. The oceans are a major carbon sink. If they release a lot of it due to being warmer then it becomes more greenhouse gas.
Since carbon holds heat in, the rise of carbon as greenhouse gases rises, and the temperature heats up, as well. That is where global warming comes into play. Many animals rely on the colder temperatures for survival, but due to the ice caps melting, life is becoming extremely difficult.

A reservoir is a big land mass that holds water "supplies" an aquifer is the same thing is just small and you could say that it purifies the water that it holds.
