Biosphere 2 included a desert biome to represent and study various ecosystems found in the world. It allowed scientists to research how deserts function within a sealed environment, providing insights into how different biomes interact in Earth's ecosystems. Additionally, the desert biome was intended to help maintain the overall balance of the biosphere experiment by contributing to oxygen production and carbon dioxide absorption.
1.OceanA million gallons of water was used to create the ocean ecosystem within Biosphere 2, the largest body of saltwater in the country at this elevation. 2.Mangrove WetlandsWetlands that are bordered by shrubs and trees are called mangroves. Mangrove wetlands are located near the ocean coastline. 3. Rain-forestThe rainforest ecosystem within Biosphere 2 is home to over 150 different species of plants. Some species have grown to be over 60 feet tall. 4.Savannah GrasslandScientists are able to research native and invasive plant species within the savannah grassland ecosystem in Biosphere 2. o A fog desert ecosystem--an area not unlike the environment outside the walls of Biosphere--is used to conduct research on drought-resistant plant species within the enclosure.
The Biosphere.
The biosphere. It is the global sum of all ecosystems. It can also be called the zone of life on Earth. The biosphere is the global ecological system integrating all living beings and their relationships, including their interaction with the elements of the lithosphere, hydrosphere and atmosphere.
All life on Earth is encompassed within the biosphere, which is the region of the Earth where life exists. This includes all ecosystems and the organisms within them, from the depths of the oceans to the highest mountains.
Biosphere 2, a closed ecological system in Arizona, lasted for two missions: the first from 1991 to 1993, and the second from 1994 to 1995. It faced challenges with oxygen levels and maintaining a balanced ecosystem for extended periods.
It's a coastal desert which fit in with the other climates for the project.
Biosphere II was built in the Sonoran Desert near Tucson, Arizona.
because some early designers and mangers were interested they hope to learn what problems would arise from living in a closed system.so in 1991 8 people lived about 2 years in the biosphere
The biosphere wasn't temperature regulated it was to fully to see if we could emulate an independent biosphere with our current technologies in its entirety, deserts play a crucial role in temperature regulation in that they capture heat that may otherwise may not be captured by other parts of the biosphere.
Biosphere 2 is owned by the University of Arizona. It is managed by the university's Biosphere 2 Research Corporation.

The Biosphere.
The desert is arid and not semiarid so there is no such thing as a semi desert area. Semiarid regions are primarily grasslands or steppes which are distinct biomes.
The interaction between the atmosphere and biosphere affects all living things. Creatures and plants living in the biosphere need the atmosphere to survive.
Biosphere covers 3.15 acres of land.

The Biosphere is the entire world. A habitat is more of a section of earth that is same to the parts around it. A habitat is part of the biosphere. (Ex. aquatic habitat, desert habitat, grassland habitat, suburban habitat)
