ok, there are a few reasons. the most prevalent one would be due to the evaporation and condensation of water in the atmosphere. when water absorbs heat it evaporates into the atmosphere as water vapour or steam. then in the upper levels of the atmosphere it condenses and falls as rain. the hotter the area the more water evaporates. still confused? this works as air currents move hot air from equatorial areas to the colder areas towards the poles. this means hot areas stay cooler than they normally should due to the suns irradiance in that area. and the polar regions get slightly warmer but soon cool down again due to the weaker sunlight there. The planet Venus is a perfect example of what happens when the water cant condense the planet gets so warm that eventually the water is too hot to be held by the planets gravitational feild and its dispersed into space. And venus just keeps getting hotter and hotter. hope this helps

Does the atmosphere keep the earths temperature stable?

Yes, the atmosphere helps regulate Earth's temperature by trapping heat from the sun through the greenhouse effect. This helps maintain a relatively stable climate suitable for life on Earth.

Is Mercury suitable for life?

No, Mercury is not at all suitable for life. It has no atmosphere and no water, and has horrific temperature extremes.

How does earths distance from the sun makes it suitable for life?

The Earth is not too far and also not too close.

What temperature is at a river biome?

It is probably suitable for life, since there is water.

What does it take to support life on a planet?

Water + Oxygen + suitable temperature

What controls the climate and protects the Earth from harmful sun?

The atmosphere. The ozone layer absorbs UV radiation, and atmosphere also controls temperature through the greenhouse effect, which allows the earth's temperature to be suitable for life. If there was no greenhouse effect then the earths average temperature would be -14oC instead of the actual 15oC.

What is the suitable temperature range for life on earth?

The suitable temperature range for the development of life on earth is different from the suitable range once life has developed. Once life has a strong foothold, evolution allows life to adapt to both increasing and decreasing temperatures, until it is able to survive in extreme environments at both ends of the scale.

Why is an atmosphere called earths security blanket?

The Earth's atmosphere acts like a security blanket by providing protection from harmful solar radiation, regulating temperature to keep conditions suitable for life, and trapping gases to maintain a stable climate. Without this protective layer, the Earth would be much colder and life as we know it would not be possible.

What keeps the earths temperature at proper level for life?

sun

What process allows temperature on earth to remain within a suitable range in order for life to exist?

The greenhouse effect is the process that allows Earth's temperature to remain within a suitable range for life to exist. Greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and water vapor trap heat in the atmosphere, preventing it from escaping into space. This helps to maintain a stable climate and temperature on Earth.
