The entire atmosphere is considered the blanket for the earth because of the protection it provides from solar radiation. This includes gamma rays, X rays, and severe ultraviolet light. The way it works is as follows:

Nitrogen in the atmosphere breaks down when exposed to gamma rays, and in the process the gamma rays are dissipated. Oxygen breaks down when exposed to X rays. And believe it or not, Ozone protects us from ultraviolet rays using the same process.

Also, when an access amount of solar radiation hits the atmosphere the atoms get excited, and this effect causes the Aurora Borealis.

Why do you think the layers are often called a cozy blanket around earth?

The layers of the Earth, such as the atmosphere and lithosphere, are often compared to a cozy blanket because they provide protection and stability to our planet, much like a blanket provides comfort and warmth. These layers shield the Earth from harmful radiation, regulate temperature, and support life by creating a habitable environment. Just as a blanket wraps around us, these layers encase the Earth, creating a sense of security and balance.

The layers of gases that form around earth are called?

The layers of gases that form around Earth are called the atmosphere. It is composed of several layers, including the troposphere (where weather occurs), stratosphere (containing the ozone layer), mesosphere, thermosphere, and exosphere.

What is the blanket of gases that surround the earth?

The blanket of gases that surround the Earth is called the atmosphere. It is composed of several layers of gases, primarily nitrogen (about 78%) and oxygen (about 21%), along with trace amounts of other gases like carbon dioxide and water vapor. The atmosphere plays a crucial role in regulating the Earth's temperature and protecting life on our planet from harmful radiation.

What are the layers of gases around Earth?

The layers of gases around Earth, in order of increasing altitude, are the troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere, and exosphere. Each layer has distinct characteristics and plays a specific role in Earth's atmosphere.

How are earth layers formed?

Earth's layers were formed through a process called differentiation during its early formation. Dense materials such as iron and nickel sank to the core, forming the inner core and outer core. Lighter materials rose to the surface, forming the crust and mantle. This process created distinct layers with varying composition and physical properties.
