because of this thing called relif rainfall...the moist air/clouds get pushed up hills were it is colder the cloud then condenses and it rains...at the end of the hills /mountain range there is something called a rain shadow which is where it rains less... that is because the clouds have already condensed on the mountain ....
hope that makes sense !! ;)
Hills near coastlines often experience more rain because warm, moist air from the ocean is forced to rise and cool as it hits the hills, causing precipitation. In contrast, air in the centers of large land areas tends to be dryer and doesn't have the same moisture source from the ocean, resulting in less rainfall.
Hills near the coast experience more rainfall due to orographic uplift. As moist air masses move towards the coast, they are forced to rise over the hills. As the air rises, it cools and condenses, leading to cloud formation and precipitation. This process enhances rainfall on the windward side of the hills.
Hills are raised usually rounded mounds not as high as mountains. They are elevated areas of land that are lower in elevation and smaller in size compared to mountains. Hills are often found scattered throughout landscapes and can vary in shape and size.
Headwaters are usually found at the source of a river, typically in high elevation areas such as mountains or hills. They are the furthest upstream point where water first begins to flow in a river system.
A valley between hills. In Spanish, the word is "hoyo." Hence the famed Hoyo de Monterey cigars were handcrafted from tobacco grown in a dale on the west coast of Cuba (before Castro, of course).
