The only difference between the educated and the uneducated are books.

In "The Wizard of Oz" the Scarecrow was intelligent but he needed a diploma to convince himself it was true. The Cowardly Lion was brave but needed a medal to prove it. The loving and kind Tin Man needed the sound of a ticking heart to be reminded.

All the uneducated need to realize they are already smart is a book.

Forget the schools, the loans for tuitions, the status oriented diplomas. All you need to do is read. To do that, all you need are books.

Visit a thrift store, go to the library, swap with friends. No electricity is required. Take it as fast or as slow as you like. Read a lot or read a little.

A word of caution: If you only read books about things you already believe, that is propoganda and indoctrination. You don't go anywhere but in tighter and tighter circles and you end up in the dark.

Read novels, great works of literature, history of a time you never knew or about places you've never seen. Read about farming or labor unions, or mysteries or music or science or art. There are universes upon universes to explore.

Enjoy!

Is there a difference between being smart and being well-educated?

A person who is smart is inherently intelligent. Such a person may be clever, insightful, creative, or knowledgeable without necessarily having received much schooling. A person who is well-educated has been taught well in school. In modern society, this usually means that a person has, at the very least, graduated from high school and a fairly good college or university.
