Consumers DO have the ultimate power to control the market, and not just the market but of the entire economy. This is due to the fact that consumer creates demand, which in most cases create Supply (although arguable.)

For example, if the entire population suddenly stops buying coffee then the entire coffee industry will go down (since nobody is buying it.)
