The Aztec economy ceased to exist. An economy of any group is based on trade whether in agricultural goods or manufactured items. The Aztec people who survived the many illnesses brought to them by the Spanish were enslaved by the Spanish losing all autonomy or control of their lives, culture, resources, and goods. They provided slave labor for mining operations, plantations, and any endeavor which would benefit Spain and the Spanish economy.

the need to unionize workers
The technology of the Spanish greatly exceeded the Aztecs. The Spanish were shooting bullets, the Aztecs were throwing stones, no contest.
because the Americans learned Spanish
There were no more Aztecs left- the Spanish killed them all, because they didn't want to be over-taken by the Aztecs if they rose again. But the only reason the Aztecs lost is because a disease- small pox- had weakened them and so they couldn't have retaliated.
The Spanish came to central America and delivered diseases such as Smallpox, Measles and Influenza to the Aztecs. The Aztecs, unlike the Spanish, were definitely not immune to the diseases and caught them, making them weak and forcing them to lose the battle between them. Although the Aztecs captured and sacrificed many of the Spanish, the Spanish resulted in taking over the capital city of Tenochtitlan and defeating all the Aztecs. The Spanish at one point tried to spread the Catholic religion throughout Mexico, forcing Aztecs to learn more about God and the Bible. If children didn't learn their lesson about it, they were punished. They were forced to stop worshiping their gods and celebrating their festivals. They were also made to work in Spanish mines or on estates.

they shot the leader wit a nine
The Aztecs received a prophecy that their future leader would emerge from the south and signal the arrival of a new era. This prophecy was closely linked to the god Huitzilopochtli, who was believed to guide them in their quest for a homeland. Additionally, it foretold the return of the god Quetzalcoatl, which many interpreted as a sign of significant change and the eventual downfall of the Aztec Empire when Spanish conquistadors arrived, led by Hernán Cortés. This prophecy fueled both hope and fear among the Aztec people during the tumultuous period of conquest.
The Spaniards came to south America and sloterred millions of Aztecs. They sentenced the death penalty to anyone that continued to believe traditional Aztec religion. This almost ended the religion all together until many atecs escaped to Europe where the religion was secretly practiced.

The Spanish had superior weaponry, but the Aztecs had many more people, and the Spanish had to flee a few times, or ally with natives, in order to take over. They also did lots of tricky things like kidnapping and giving permission for celebrations and then turning them into massacres. I don't think that there was ever much doubt that they would eventually overcome; just they had to change their timing and alter their plans sometimes because of the strength of the natives.
