And my answer is purely what I think should occur, but it may not be realistic: I would think barter is is a good monetary policy for an economy in a recession, as well as heavy taxation of the rich (25% and over), because the problem with selling things in a recession is that people may or may not have the money for what you're offering, but they want it. So they can barter with you for it. You can in turn trade in these goods to a bank for money. It's a merger between barter and actual money.
