In real terms (not theoretically) it depends on what you want to buy with those 50 dollars today. Some things that were expensive then and are today easy to come by, may cost more or less the same. Telephones for instance.

Then, something cheap in 1923 but hard to come by today, may be

devaluating your 50 dollar note by a 100pts.
