W DEMING is reportedly the father of Quality Management. Having investgated concepts to identify a weakness in a process he set about identifying the stages to bring about chnage from the weakness to strengt.

Identify weakness > set in place corrections to improve > measure the effect of the improvement > identify any weaknes > set in place corrections to improve etc etc

DEMING being a statistician attempted to instill his 14 point quality improvement ideas in his home of America. When this did not prove to be very well received he went to Japan and introduced his principles there just after WW2. here he was credited with the rise of Japan as a manufacturing nation, and with the invention of Total Quality Management (TQM). In 1960 the Japanese recognised his work in their nations development by awarding him with a medal for his services to its industrial growth
