In 1932, the French franc was worth about four cents (25.46 to the American dollar or 3.92 cents). By 1939 and the start of WWII, the franc had shrunk to just about 2.5 cents. During and after the war, the franc was worth anybody's guess, what with Vichy money and American and British issued francs after the war. For comparison, the British pound in 1932 was worth roughly $5, so the franc was worth a bit less than 2 pence. (Remember, this was before metrification, so a british pound was worth 20 shillings and a shilling was worth 12 pence, so a pound was worth 240 pence.)
Today, 10 Jamaican dollars is worth 11 cents in U.S. dollars or 7 pence British, but the exchange rate changes constantly.
