The type of hotel, management of the hotel along with location of the hotel play a big part in how much a hotel owner makes. On a high end Hilton Property (Hampton Inn & Suites, Hilton Garden Inn....) Marriot (Courtyard, Fairfield) or IHG (Crown Plaza, Holiday Inn...) after franchise fees and taxes you make around 200,000-250,000/year/hotel... so if you have more than 12 hotels that you own/manage... that's over 2.5million/year. Brad Pitts character...owned many hotels) HOTEL OWNERS ARE BALLERS, AND VERY GOOD BUSINESS PEOPLE WHO KNOW THIS BUSINESS INSIDE OUT AND VERY EDUCATED WITH MBA/JD OR BOTH. A hotel owner makes about 45,000 to 60,000 dollars a year.

Price gouging is bad. It prices poor people out of the market for necessary goods, and encourages hoarding by the rich.
