Economic problem in essence is the problem of scarcity of resources in comparison with human wants.

In everyday life, we encounter many economic problems, poverty, unemployment, inflation etc, but if we start analyzing them, we will find that every problem has it's roots in the fundamental problem of scarcity of resources. Scarcity forces choices in consumption and production of goods. Scarcity creates conflicts. Scarcity means that not every body is getting everything he wants and there will be losers and winners.

Scarcity arises because of two underlying conditions:

Physical condition, that is, limited productive resources and a mental condition that is , unlimited wants.

Physical limits do not alone-establish scarcity-in an economic sense. It is the human wants which make resources insufficient.

Wants are unlimited, people want much more than just necessities.

So the bitter fact is economic problem is permanent.

What is the relationship of economics to religion?

Think about it. Religions world wide buy and sell their wares. Think about the workers who make grave stones and monuments with religious significance. Think about the many Statues and religious icons that are bought and sold daily. Think about the skilled craftsmen that are hired, the purchases of gold and precious stones and metals that religious organizations utilize in great quantities, and the ships and seamen that benefit and the hired hands. The food caterers for hire etc; Get the picture! Aside from that, the moral teachings of a religion should influence its practitioners and followers to act responsibly and kindly so as not to exploit others economically or take fiscal advantage of anyone. This is where the teachings on generosity, kindness and mercy have a real and practical application. One's actions are an outward indicator of one's inner spiritual development.
