Greetings, Sometimes it is and has been necessary for government to control the nation utilizing the forces of economics. For example, during the mass poultry or chicken influenza throughout China and parts of Europe, government (our elected officials) decided it would be best we didn't trade in with those nations especially poultry and put restrictions and strict inspections during this time. There will be times when the safety, security and general welfare of the American or any other nations (their populous) needs to restrict or prevent some form of economic structure, restriction as needed.
Persons who make decisions on behalf of the people are typically elected representatives, such as legislators and government officials, who are accountable to their constituents. In a democratic system, these individuals are chosen through elections to reflect the interests and needs of the public. Additionally, appointed officials, such as judges and administrators, may also make decisions that impact the community. Ultimately, these decision-makers are expected to act in the best interest of the people they serve.
