The 1922 Peace dollars are the highest mintage, most common of the series.
If the coins show any wear, they are only valued for the silver at about $25.00 as of today.
The value of 100 rupee coins in silver versus a 100 rupee note in paper depends on context. While the paper note has a face value of 100 rupees, the silver coins could have intrinsic value based on the market price of silver, which may exceed the face value. If silver prices are high, the coins could be more valuable; otherwise, they may serve primarily as currency. Thus, the ultimate value depends on current silver market conditions and the intended use of the currency.
The silver coins would be more valuable - as the price of silver fluctuates. The value of the paper is irrelevant.
about $100
If your 1972 coin is a uncirculated example it may be worth about $5.00 because the 1971 & 1972 issue coins were not included in the Uncirculated Mint sets sold from the Mint in those years. In general none of the circulated coins have more than face value. Only proof and uncirculated collectors coins sold from the Mint have premiums. The Mint did offer Proof and Uncirculated coins in 1971-1976 that were struck in 40% silver.
Coins become valuable when they are minted with errors. This is also based on the quantity of coins with errors, as well. Another way that coins may become valuable is when they are very old. And yet another way is if they are made from a precious metal. Coins that are minted from a high percentage of either silver or gold. This is due to the intrinsic value of the metal. A $20 gold piece can be worth hundreds or thousands of dollars. Theoretically, if a one ounce gold coin, originally minted as worth one dollar, may be worth as much as $1300 if it was 100% gold. This is only theoretical, because coins are never minted using 100% of the metal, because they would be too soft.
Now its 100 coins and silver is worth 200 coins.
No circulating silver US coins were 100% silver, all are 90% silver and 10 % copper.
They are so rare, they are worth a huge amount. I never had one come in my store, but I have a waiting list to buy one. I estimate it's worth between $1,000 and $2,500.
Just recently with the advent of bullion coins such as the American Silver Eagle. Coins intended for circulation were never 100% silver because silver is simply too soft of a metal for coinage. They were 90% silver in American coins until 1964 for dimes, quarters and half dollars, but other than bullion coins, no coins are made of 100% silver.
You get 1 gold by collecting 100 silver coins, and you get 1 silver coin by getting 100 bronze coins.
The value of coins and bills can vary greatly depending on condition and stamping. A 1995 liberty silver dollar can be worth between $20 and $100.
1837 was the year US silver coins changed to .900 silver & .100 copper, that caused a slight reduction of silver.
1 yocash = 100 coins
100 coins = £1
The value of .999 pure silver coins varies with the spot price of silver on the market. A one-ounce silver coin will always be worth, at a minimum, the spot price of silver. Depending on the condition of the coin and the market in general, it may be worth up to 100% more. Proof coins are worth more than the coins that are not circulated, which in turn are worth more than lower-grade coins that may have been handled or have scratches, dings, etc. With the spot price of silver approaching $35, a current check of asking prices for the 2003 American Eagle ranged from $40 for a specimen that is not circulated, to over $110 for a PR70-rated proof coin. Check the current spot price of silver daily.
The rising price of silver makes these coins worth more for scrap metal than as collectibles. Each would retail for about $3.25; however, a scrap dealer will pay wholesale which is less.
None that were made for circulation. There may have been some special commemorative issues. If you can tell us what the coin is or describe it fully, I can look it up but I'm not going to search through a hundred or more pages to see if there might be one. There are 1979 silver 100 pesos Jose Morelos Coins (partial silver, worth about $5), and silver onza (one ounce) bullion coins (worth about $7.50). These are the only Mexican silver coins from 1979 that I know about.
