• the ability to buy food, secure shelter, have utilities
• the ability to buy/purchase items, whether needed or not.
• independence; freedom from other people's control
• the ability to use or save (amass more money)
• the ability to give and help someone who has less money
• the ability to loan monies to others
• the ability to buy gifts
• money gives some security
• the richer you are, the more good should go to the community, but this is rarely so
• except in fire, money is durable (can wash it, walk on it, crumple paper money, drop it)... it's still spendable if recognizable and if it isn't recognizable then the government will replace it or collectors will pay top dollar for oddities
• gold is durable in all hazards, even if buried in sand at the bottom of the ocean after a sailing vessel sunk in the 1600s

Negatives to having money would include:

• money is dirty, literally; more bacteria exists on money than what is seen in bathrooms
• desire continues to grow even when a person has some money; always want more
• the more you have, the more other people want ("giving" has lost some of its free will action)
• someone will always want to steal whatever money available; thieves and scams abound
• how "rich" is rich? - when is enough "enough"?
• the division between "the haves" and "have nots" quickly widens and continues to widen with increasing incomes/monies; there's a great difference in each monetary class of persons
• there is never an equal distribution of wealth, or even a 50-50 status quo
• money never creates happiness, although many people think it will
• money "had" can always be lost or wasted
• money increases risks if you don't live within your means
