From the news, it looks like current donations don't really get to the people who need them. Besides sometimes being foods that the people don't eat (compare our appetite for blubber to that of the Eskimos), there are often problems with local governments and the people who run them. Often, they circumvent the intention of the donors and the items end up on the black market. Some ideas, like the Heifer Project, micro-lending to mostly women in villages and so on have worked quite well. The saying which goes something like "give a man a fish and he eats for a day; show him how to fish, he eats for...." is true.

∙ 14y agothere are no solutions as of now, the peoplei n in the underdeveloped nations rely on the generosity of the countries that will ship grains and vegetables (these are sometimes confiscated by their warlords) also the climates of these poor nations will not allow for healthy food crops , so we in the developed countries must share with rest of the world. until Famine can be wiped out.
