There are few benefits to a centrally planned (controlled) economy. One benefit might be that the amount of funds used to manufacture a particular product can be firmly budgeted for. Thus there are no surprises or cost over runs.

A planned economy reduces uncertainty. This could help -inflation to increase at a slow and stable rate (price stability) -to maintain low unemployment -to keep the balance of payments in equilibrium -to acheieve high but sustainable economic growth these are the main macroeconomic government objectives.
