As a demand factor changes in relation to a good or service, the demand curve will shift horizontally left or right. This is because a change in a demand factor results in a change in demand. At each and every price, the quantity demanded is affected.

Tastes, Fashions and Preferences: As consumer tastes/fashions/preferences improve for a good or service, the demand will increase (and vice versa). This is often affected by advertising and marketing of products, or because of living conditions.

Income: As consumer income increases, the demand for a good or service will increase (and vice versa). This is because they are able to buy more of a good or service as they have more disposable income.

Price of a Compliment: As the price of a compliment increases, the demand for the respective good or service decreases (and vice versa). This is because the quantity demanded for the compliment decreases, so consumers require less of the other good or service to use in conjunction with the compliment.

Price of a Substitute: As the price of a substitute increases, the demand for respective goods and services will increase (and vice versa). This is because the quantity demanded for the substitute will decrease as the price increases, and some consumers will turn to equivalent goods.

Please note: Price is not a demand factor; a change in price changes quantity demanded, which results in a movement along the demand curve.

What happens to demand and demand curve when there is an increase in the factor?

If there is an increase in demand then a new demand curve appears to the right of the original, but if there is an increase in quantity demanded, then there will only be an increase in price and a new demand curve will not appear.

What happens if demand curve interacts with the supply curve?

Then demand and supply are equal.

Does the change in consumer tastes lead to a movement along the demand curve or a shift in the demand curve?

A change in consumer's tastes leads to a shift in the demand curve. A change in price leads to a movement along the demand curve.

Does a change in consumers' tastes lead to a movement along the demand curve or a shift in the demand curve?

A change in consumer's tastes leads to a shift in the demand curve. A change in price leads to a movement along the demand curve.

What is a demand curve and how it is different from demand function?

The demand curve demonstrates what happens when a product is demanded by customers. A demand function refers to an event that can affect the demand curve.

The primary difference between a change in demand and a change in the quantity demanded is?

a change in demand is a movement along the demand curve, and a change in quantity demanded is a shift in the demand curve

Explain what happens when the demand curve intersects with the supply curve?

explain what happens inside curve sample

In economics what is the meaning of the term 'demand curve'?

Graphical representation of law of demand that is change in quantity demanded due to change in price keeping other factors constant is demand curve. It is downward sloping as there is inverse relation between price and quantity demanded.

What is the difference between change in demand curve and shift in demand curve?

Change in demand curve is caused by the change in the price of the product. This is the change that occurs ON THE DEMAND CURVE. The price changes changes the QUANTITY DEMANDED, not the demand curve itself. Shift in demand curve is caused by NON PRICE DEMAND DETERMINANTS. Basically it shifts the ENTIRE curve (right (increase) or left (decrease)). Change in income, change in number of consumers, taste and preferences, price of related goods, and future expectations all cause shifts in demand curve. For example, an increase in the number of consumers would shift the demand to the right because demand would increase.

What happens to the demand curve when determinants change?

A change in any one or more of these determinants of supply, or supply shifters, will move the supply curve for a product either right or left.

When there is a change in the quantity demanded what happens to the demand curve?

Decrease in quantity demanded usually results from an increase in price and vice versa. When the price of a product increases, the demand curve itself is not affected. However, the quantity demanded decreases to a higher point along the demand curve.

What is rectangular hyperbola demand curve?

This is the curve which shows the unitary elastic demand where the change in quantity demanded equals with the change in price.
